Planning

Following the consultation exercise with the local community, the local authority and key stakeholders, we intend to submit a planning application to the London Borough of Sutton for the development of the Wandle Riverside scheme in the coming weeks.

Should planning consent be granted, it is expected that work would begin on site in mid-2013 and that the construction process would take around four years to complete.

The Hackbridge & Beddington Corner Neighbourhood Development Group

The Hackbridge and Beddington Corner Neighbourhood Development Group is one of seventeen groups in the UK who have been chosen to trial the concept of neighbourhood planning, a new right as part of the Localism Act. Neighbourhood planning aims to "give communities a real voice in deciding the look and feel of development in their area. Local people will be able to have their say on the location of new homes, the design of buildings, the shops they want to see in the High Street, and the green spaces that should be protected".

The Hackbridge and Beddington Corner Neighbourhood Development Group formed in 2011 and is currently developing a neighbourhood plan for the area.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Group, you can find out more information on the Hackbridge Network website.

We have been engaging with the Neighbourhood Development Group on a regular basis since December 2011. We have held a number of meetings to discuss our proposed plans and the Groups’ aspirations for the future development of the area.

Notes from our meetings, with our responses to the comments and questions raised by the Group, can be downloaded below.
